Lost in all the verbiage and video on Carmelo Anthony was ESPN's first power rankings of 2009-10. Marc Stein wrote down the names of all 30 teams in the order he thinks they fit now, before training camp. Instead of taking us through the training camp week-by-week, Stein will wait til October 25, two night before the opener, for his next listing.
For the Nets, Stein's list is no surprise. He has them ranked 25th, up from last season's final ranking of 29th. He writes, "If he knew his biggest free-agent score would be Avery Johnson, maybe Prokhorov wouldn't have said all that stuff about getting to the Finals in five years or less. The flip side: Proky's Nets remain firmly in the Melo mix."
