Mikhail Prokhorov has been approved as Nets owner since May 13.  He's spent or committed nearly a half billion dollars on the team and Barclays Center.  For the most part, it's been smooth sailing with positive, even adoring,  profiles and several press conferences where he has wowed the New York media.

Now comes Matt Taibbi, Rolling Stone's investigative reporter. He has penned a profile of Prokhorov for Men's Journal entitled, "Is American Sports Ready for a Real Gangster?"  The issue has yet to hit the stands, but Taibbi has begun making the rounds of talk shows to promote the profile. In his first interview with Don Imus, Taibbi talks about Prokhorov's dealings with the Russian government, the main focus of the profile.

No word yet from Prokhorov on the article.
