We don't know if it's going to be required for all new hires, but Avery Johnson and his family traveled to Moscow this week, getting a tour of the Russian capital and playing some hoops against members of Mikhail Prokhorov's brain trust.
The Nets website didn't say if Johnson spent any time with the boss, but he did get some court time with Sergey Kushchenko, who ran CSKA Moscow for Prokhorov and is now his top sports advisor...a role that extends to the Nets and the NBA.
It was Johnson's first visit to Russia and pronounced himself impressed. Johnson donned a CSKA jersey in the scrimmage while the Russians had their Net warm-ups. Also participating: Johnson's high school age son, who reportedly "held his own".
