Brian Lehrer and Matthew Schuerman of WNYC examined the Nets' proposed name change Monday and took calls from listeners on proposed names, IF Mikhail Prokhorov should change it from Nets.
Among the ideas: Brooklyn Power, Brooklyn Eagles, Brooklyn Knights, Brooklyn Dodgers (or Codgers), New Jersey Nets of Brooklyn and Boro President Marty Markowitz's faves, Brooklyn Bridges and Brooklyn Attitudes (bet the security guys would love that).
Schuerman played a clip from Markowitz saying Bruce Ratner promised the team would be called "Brooklyn", not "New York". What Markowitz didn't know is Ratner made a deal with the state that "from the first season, the team shall be called either New York or Brooklyn."
