The Nets may be interested in Joe Dumars, but Joe Dumars is not interested in the Nets.
The Pistons GM Issued a statement Monday, effectively cutting off speculation that he will replace Rod Thorn when the long time president of basketball operations steps down July 15.
"In response to today's media reports regarding the New Jersey Nets, I can say that I do not have any interest in a basketball operations position with the Nets," said Dumars in the statement. "My priority is to continue leading the Pistons' basketball operations efforts and putting together a team that is ready to compete and get back on track next season."
Hornets GM Jeff Bower, on the other hand, confirmed that he has spoken with the Nets. Fred Kerber described the talks as "serious on both sides". Still in the picture: Thunder GM Sam Presti and the Nets "GM in waiting" Bobby Marks.
