The Nets arrive in Newark just as the Prudential Center is taking off as a venue, reports a sports marketing expert. Over the past year, "The Rock" has jumped from #37 to #15 in tickets sold among US arenas, writes Joe Favorito.
It's a trend that is almost certain to continue with the Nets' two-year commitment..and brand synergy.
"Concert goers subliminally see the Devils signage and become curious, hockey fans become intrigued by the Nets being in the building while the Devils are away, Nets fans may look to take in a Seton Hall game, Seton Hall fans may see a concert advertised that they may have missed and on and on and on," writes Favorito in New Jersey Newsroom.
While not the World's Most Famous Arena, it could become the region's second most popular venue if the IZOD gets shut...and according to an ESPN story, a lot healthier place to chow down during a game than its better known Manhattan rival.
