Favors, James Promise Nets Quick Rewards

Lost in the news about the Yi Jianlian trade, Rod Thorn's departure and impending free agency travel was the stated purpose of Tuesday's press conference at the PNY Center, introduction of the Nets two rookies, 6'10" PF Derrick Favors and 6'8" SF Damion James

Both promised quick rewards for the Nets.  Favors denied he is a work in progress and said he can help with defense and rebounds.

"I can contribute right away with my defense and rebounding. My offense, right now there's some work I have to do to compete in the NBA," said the draft's No. 3 pick.

Avery Johnson thinks James can be a defensive stopper and the Texas senior wants people to know he's already had some experience defending a top NBA offensive talent.

"I’ve guarded possibly one of the top three players in the NBA every summer, Kevin Durant," James said of a UT teammate he says is like a brother to him. "With that being said, he plays like a guard but he can post. So I can take on the challenge."
