Summer League Invitations Go Out to Chism, Zoubek, Uzoh, Carter

The Orlando Summer League, officially the  AirTran Airways Pro Summer League starts in 10 days with a 1 p.m. game featuring the #2 and #3 picks in the drafts--the 76ers with Evan Turner vs. the Nets with Derrick Favors. On Wednesday, the team will open practice in New Jersey before flying to Florida.

In addition to Favors, the Nets' second pick, Texas' 6'8" SF/PF Damion Jones, is expected to be on hand, as well as Terrence Williams.  It's doubtful any of the other young Nets will on hand, so invitations are going out to players, some of whom are players not selected in Thursday's draft.

Wayne Chism, Tennessee's 6'9" PF, agreed to join the Nets team at around 1 a.m. Friday.  Chism had a private workout with the Nets on Thursday, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel, and was offered the invitation at the end of it. A senior, he averaged 12.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 1.3 bpg for Tennessee, shooting 32.4% from deep.

Brian Zoubek, the 7'1" Duke center and New Jersey native, will also be on the roster in Orlando, according to Jonathan Givony. Givony also reports the Ben Uzoh, Tulsa's 6'3" PG/SG, has agreed to play for New Jersey in the summer league. Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside adds that Tweety Carter, a 5'11" PG out of Baylor, is also on the Nets roster.
