Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov was in the U.S. Wednesday and Thursday. He didn't attemd the NBA Draft. The Nets owner had a higher calling. He accompanied Russian president Dmitri Medvedev to Washington, met briefly with President Obama, and attended the U.S. Chamber of Commerce symposium held a block away from the White House. He did drop by the Nets' offices on Wednesday to meet with Rod Thorn.
Prokhorov had met Obama in Moscow last year and had previously met President Bush in Washington. In a bit of irony, just as Prokhorov was meeting the President, Brooklyn critics were outside Madison Square Garden protesting what they claim was inadequate vetting of the new Nets owner by the NBA.
