Fred Kerber hints at who the Nets might take at #27, a scoring point guard. In noting who's in for workout's Wednesday, the Post writer describes Nevada's hyperathletic 6'4" PG Armon Johnson, as a player "who some predict the Nets like at No. 27."
Johnson is described by ESPN's Chad Ford as "a proven scorer in college, and his combine numbers were off the charts". But, Ford asks "is Johnson a point guard?" He is listed at the end of the first round in most mock drafts. ESPN has him going at #29, NBADraft.net at #24 and Draft Express at #26. He's moved up in all three recently.
There are few solid point guards in either the draft or free agency. With Keyon Dooling and Chris Quinn unlikely to return, the Nets will need a back-up to Devin Harris.
