There's been no official announcement, but the father of a fast-rising point guard, Brigham Young's Jimmer Fredette, spent Thursday morning with the Nets as he decides whether to stay in school.
Fredette, at 6'2", is seen as a NBA point guard who can shoot from deep and has high basketball IQ. His athleticism is suspect.
ESPN's Chad Ford reports the native New Yorker has impressed in workouts, adding "several teams' stat guys rank him as the No. 2 point guard in the draft". The Nets have the first pick in the second round.
Fredette must decide by Saturday whether to remain in school. That's the NCAA deadline for underclassmen to declare whether they are returning to school or headed to the draft. A Kentucky newspaper is reporting that the Nets have interviewed Kenneth Faried, the Newark native and the NCAA's leading rebounder, in anticipation of a workout.
