Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated has some news for Mikhail Prokhorov if he wants to change the team's name in time for the Brooklyn move: he has less than six months to make the decision. In a series of tweets, Mannix explains that under league rules, a team wanting to change its name has to submit the name to the league two full years before it takes effect. Moreover, the NBA has to approve the change just as it has to approve moves and ownership transfers.
The Nets expect to be in Barclays Center for opening night in late October 2012.
