Gay Skeptical Grizzlies Will Match

Rudy Gay, believed to be one of the Nets' free agent targets this summer, says he's unsure Grizzlies' owner Michael Heisley will follow through on his promise to match any offer made him.  Gay is a restricted free agent so Memphis gets seven days to match.  "That's what they've said, but who knows? I've seen stranger things happen,'' Gay told FanHouse Sunday, adding "You never know what's going to happen. At this point, I don't get to pick the teams, but we'll listen."

Gay turned down a five-year, $50 million extension last summer, demanding $15 million more.  FanHouse's Tim Povtak suggests the bidding could go as high as $75 million if the Nets and Knicks "strike out with with the biggest stars."
