Subtle Changes Begin as Prokhorov Era Approaches

In a lengthy discussion of the NBA's finances, Mitch Lawrence notes that the Nets are losing "tons of money"--$64 million says Sports Business Journal.  He also suggests the Nets are starting to see small changes brought on by the impending transfer of ownership from Bruce Ratner to Mikhail Prokhorov.

In particular. Lawrence notes that the Nets have kept their advance scouts on the road through the playoffs, to "watch potential free-agent acquisitions for this summer." That hasn't been the case in the past, notes Lawrence: "In previous years under outgoing majority owner Bruce Ratner, who cut costs any way he could, they would have been off the road long ago by now".
