By any measure, the Nets were the worst team in the Eastern Conference and it showed not just in the standings, but in the final attendance figures.
Sports Business Daily reports that the Nets were the worst in overall attendance at 537, 230; worst in average attendance at 13,103; worst in filling up arena capacity at 69.1%; and had the second worst dropoff year to year, at 13.5%. In many cases, the gap between the Nets and the next worst team was large. The Pacers, who had the second lowest average attendance, still drew 1,000 more fans per game than the Nets.
Eastern Conference teams saw a 2.9% drop at the gate, with three clubs seeing double-digit declines: the Pistons, Nets and 76ers.
