Tom Izzo has a lot of his mind. He's preparing his Michigan State Spartans for their sixth Final Four in the last 12 years. But he took time out to talk with Dan Patrick Tuesday, and was asked about Adrian Wojnarowski's report that the Nets might target him in their coaching search.
Like Mike Krzyzewski of fellow Final Four entrant Duke, Izzo initially made fun of the prospect of working for a Russian in the NBA. "Why would he want me? That's a better question than why I'd want them. I have no pro experience. I don't speak Russian. I barely speak English."
But when he was asked if he could be interested, he diverted from the Coach K script. "I don't think so," he replied. In the media biz, that's called a non-denial denial.
