Nets Tie '72-73 Sixers and Pick Up Second Straight Win

They finally did it. And they finally did that too. Behind career highs from both Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian on Friday at the Izod Center, the Nets put together their first winning streak and tied the '72-73 Sixers with their ninth victory of the season, a 118-110 triumph over Detroit. Their strong defense from Wednesday did not carry over, and they allowed the Pistons to go up 13 early on and score 30 points in the first quarter. Detroit was up six at halftime, but the Nets took the lead with a 10-3 run to start the third quarter. They grabbed control with a pair of Jarvis Hayes threes late in the third, led by as many as 12 with less than three minutes to go in the fourth, and held off a late Pistons run to come away with a eight-point win.

The Nets shot a season-high 57 percent from the field, with Lopez and Yi combining to shoot 26-33. Lopez led all scorers with a career-high 37 points, grabbing 10 boards for his 31st double-double of the season. Yi had a career-high 31 points, adding five boards. Devin Harris didn't make a shot, but dished out 12 assists, and Terrence Williams added 13 points, five rebounds and eight assists off the bench.
