Word is that when everything gets worked out, Brett Yormark's main job will be running Barclays Center. As president of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, he's in charge of selling sponsorships, suites, and booking all those other dates at the arena. So when ChiefExecutive.net asked if Barclays is more a "marketing platform" than "basketball play", he replied, "absolutely." As he noted, "When you think about the 200-plus events at the Barclays Center, only 41 are Nets basketball games. And if we make the playoffs, hopefully a little bit more. But it’s truly about entertainment and developing a marketing platform" for arena sponsors. He also talked about his "Rent-a-Net" program, saying it's been successful, adding "players love it. It humanizes them."
