John Hollinger thinks they have a 5.9% change (not six percent, 5.9). Hollinger, the ESPN stats guru who is historically skeptical of all things Nets and often right, thinks that of the four teams buried at the bottom of the East, the Nets have the best chance. Better than the Wizards, the Pistons and the Cavaliers.
His logic: the eighth seed may not need more than 36 wins and the Nets can most improve between now and April: "they have a clearly underachieving star in Brook Lopez;" "they have obvious means of improving their roster--acknowledging the existence of Troy Murphy;" and " it's inconceivable to me that Travis Outlaw and Terrence Williams can continue to perform this badly". Really?
