Buried in the beat reporters notebooks Wednesday is this morsel: Derrick Favors may soon be the starting power forward for the Nets. In the preseason, Avery Johnson said he expected to evaluate Favors' readiness to start at around 20 or 30 games into the season.
That would be now.
As reported by Al Iannazzone, Johnson was discussing Troy Murphy’s minutes and said he’s behind two power forwards — Kris Humphries and Favors. "And one of those two guys is probably going to [be] starting here sometime soon," Johnson said. A team insider confirms Johnson's thinking. "I can see Derrick's minutes picking up here," said the insider.
