Nets Get Burned by the Hawks for Fifth Straight Loss

The Nets lost their fifth straight game overall and eighth straight on the road on Tuesday, getting scorched by the Hawks, 116-101.

"Our guys tried," Avery Johnson told reporters. "Unfortunately we just played a better team."

The Nets led by as many as seven points in the first half, but Atlanta took control with a 15-0 run late in the second quarter and went up by 16 early in the third. The Nets got to within five with just over three minutes to go in the game, but they couldn't get the stops they needed down the stretch, as Atlanta hit its final 12 shots of the game.

The Nets shot 47 percent from the field, but they couldn's stop Josh Smith (34 points, 14-for-16 shooting) or Jamal Crawford (26 points, 11-for-17) on the other end. Atlanta shot 60 percent as a team.

Brook Lopez led the Nets with 24 points, Devin Harris finished with 18 points and 13 assists, and Jordan Farmar added 16 points off the bench. Troy Murphy did not play.
