Starting in February, an advertising agency partly owned by Jay-Z will begin marketing the "Brooklyn Nets" brand (if indeed that turns out to be the name). Initially reported by Sports Business Journal, the agreement has been confirmed by Barclays Center, which hired the agency, Translation.
According to the report, Translation has been "newly hired to coordinate marketing behind the Nets' move to Brooklyn and the new arena." The agency will "orchestrate the first pitch for 'Brooklyn Nets' tickets, with initial ads expected in February". Team officials have declined to say if "Nets" will be part of the team name, but suggest "Brooklyn" will be. Jay-Z, a minority owner for six years, has been to two Nets games so far this season.
