It wasn't easy on the eyes (or the heart), but the Nets ended their eight-game losing streak with a 97-89 win over the Wizards on Thursday night at the Prudential Center.
The Nets took control with a 13-0 run early in the game, they led by as many as 23 midway through the second quarter and were up 17 at halftime. But the Wizards came back in the third quarter and tied the game early in the fourth. They never took the lead though, and the Nets got big plays from Devin Harris and Brook Lopez down the stretch to come away with the win.
Both teams shot just 40 percent from the field and turned the ball over 21 times, but the Nets had a 30-22 advantage at the free throw line. Harris didn't shoot well from the field, but he led all scorers with 29 points. Dealing with foul trouble, Lopez played just 26 minutes, finishing with 18 points and five rebounds. Kris Humphries recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
