Nets: No Extension, No Favors

In his Weekend Dime, Marc Stein says he has been told in no uncertain terms that the Nets would not trade for Carmelo Anthony unless 'Melo agrees to an extension.

Then, in an interesting second line, Stein adds, "Not if the Nuggets would be expecting Derrick Favors to be included in the deal."  That seems to indicate the Nets would trade for Anthony without an extension, but for players and draft picks other than Favors.

Stein doesn't provide details, but notes: "The Nets remain highly motivated to land Melo before the Knicks find a way and believe they can still assemble a deal that sends Favors (June's No. 3 overall pick) along with multiple future first-rounders to Denver."
