Derrick Favors had an up-and-down week as the Nets' double-double machine Kris Humphries continued to put up good numbers in a starting role.
He had his highest scoring game, 14 points, along with 6 boards, against the Nuggets, but also had three points in 16 minutes in the loss to the Kings.
His place in the rookie rankings reflects that. ESPN's David Thorpe has him at #4, behind Blake Griffin, John Wall and the Knicks' surprising Landry Fields. Thorpe's colleague, John Hollinger, has him behind Wall, Griffin and the Spurs' Tiago Splitter. Drew Packham of NBA.com has him three places lower, putting those three, DeMarcus Cousins, Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe ahead of him.
One thing Thorpe points out, that doesn't get a lot of attention: "He's proving to be a solid defender, which is impressive considering his position and age."
