HoopsWorld's Alex Raskin has a feature on Damion James, about how he's dealing with being a rookie in the NBA after spending four years at Texas...where his teammates numbered Kevin Durant and D.J. Augustin. It hasn't been easy.
It's not just the rookie hazing--ordering 30 hoagies for the veterans and bringing them back by public bus...in Roanoke. It's the lack of certainty about playing time. He played only 68 minutes in preseason, although 31 came in the last two games where he seemed more confident.
In spite of his limited time on the court, James seems resolved to learning the game (and learning not to "make the same mistakes over and over again,"as his coach says). Bottom line, he hopes to be a "more athletic Joe Johnson" someday.
