In another sign of progress towards ground breaking in Brooklyn, Banker Steel of Lynchburg, VA, announced it will fabricate 10,500 tons of structural steel for Barclays Center. The contract is initally valued at $50 million. Banker has supplied steel for several major construction projects in New York, including the Freedom Tower. Also, an arena engineer reports the design includes "an ice floor for hockey".
