Daniel Goldstein, Atlantic Yards opponent and spokesman for Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn, is optimistic that the project can be defeated. Even if the Court of Appeals hearing doesn't go his way, Goldstein doesn't believe Ratner will be able to break ground in 2009, because at this point, the project is still short on land and financing. Goldstein believes Atlantic Yards would "forever scar Brooklyn if built."
