Four years ago Thursday, the Nets had just come off a loss to the Heat and were 27-36, one game worse than this year's team. Post-season looked like a mirage. They then went on a 15-4 spurt to make the playoffs the final day of the season. This year's Nets may need that kind of run as well. Most tiebreakers don't favor New Jersey. Portland has plenty to play for as well in a tight Western race.
