There's nothing in any coaching manual that prepared Lawrence Frank for what he had to do in the early morning of January 27: tell a player his mother had died. After Frank told Stromile Swift the news, the Nets forward was so inconsolable he couldn't leave the team charter. It's been a grief that continues to this day, one that the Nets have tried to alleviate as teammates, coaches and as an organization.
