Kidd Sentences Nets To Futility Record

With Jason Kidd leading the way on the court he once owned, the Mavs blasted the Nets into their own special oblivion Wednesday. After holding the Mavs in check during the first quarter, the Nets collapsed in the second, getting outscored 49-22. The Mavs shot 90% in the quarter. The Nets came out fast in the third and played the Mavs even for the quarter, but obviously, it was too late. Kidd left the game after three quarters then returned with seven minutes left in the fourth when the Nets made a mini-run. He finished with 16 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds and five steals. He is now 3-1 vs the Nets since being traded to Dallas at the deadline in 2008. Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 24 while Chris Douglas-Roberts had 24 for the Nets. Rafer Alston didn't dress because of a sore knee. So for the 14th consecutive game, the Nets played with 10 or fewer players. No indication as to when Alston will return. Kiki Vandeweghe takes over as head coach Thursday.
