Knicks Rattle Nets' Defensive Plans in Preseason Opener

The Nets' commitment to defense will have to wait another day. The Knicks scored 115 points, 60 in the first half, and hit 13-of-31 from deep. The Nets were never ahead in the second half. Devin Harris and Brook Lopez effectively ran the pick-and-roll early, keeping it close, but played only limited minutes after halftime. Lopez finished with 19 points and 4 rebounds while Harris had 14 points and 4 assists, all in the first half. Chris Douglas-Roberts showed how much he improved over the summer, leading the Nets with 21 points on 5-for-11 shooting. Both CDR and Lopez went to the line repeatedly. Lopez hit 9-of-11, Douglas-Roberts 11-of -15. Yi Jianlian had 9 and 6 while rookie Terrence Williams scored 11, all in the second half, on 4-for-12 shooting, including 1-for-4 from downtown. Bobby Simmons exploded from deep in the third, hitting four three pointers and finished with 16 along with 6 boards. Sean Williams fouled out in less than 14 minutes.
