NetsDaily Mock Roundup #2

In 2002, the Nets took the youngest player in the draft, Nenad Krstic, thinking he would stay overseas for a year, then come to the NBA. It was low-risk, high-reward choice.

If the draftniks are right, the Nets will once again go for one of the youngest players in the draft this year as well, but DeAndre Jordan and Anthony Randolph won't have the luxury of spending a year in Europe. The 7'0" Jordan and 6'11" Randolph and 7 will have to prove their worth immediately...even if they are only 19 and 18 years old.

Jordan is favored in 16 and Randolph in 10 of the 46 mock drafts that went up after Chicago grabbed the overall #1 in Tuesday's Draft Lottery. Jordan and Randolph are also favored by the big three mocks -- Chad Ford's list on ESPN, and Draft Express. ESPN has the Nets taking Randolph, the other two Jordan. Beyond those two, the next most popular are Florida PF Marreese Speights and Kansas PF Darrell Arthur, who are favored in nine each. Others who received more than two mentions in the 45 mocks were: Ohio State and Greek National Team center Kosta Koufos in 5, Arizona swingman Chase Budinger in 4 and Stanford's Robin Lopez, Italy's Danilo Gallinari, UCLA's Kevin Love and Georgetown's Roy Hibbert, all favored by three mocks. Budinger and Gallinari were the only swingmen to get more than two votes by the draftniks. Seven mocks, possibly following Draft Express' lead, had the Nets taking Jordan at #10 and Speights at #21.

We were aided by John Schuhmann's NBA Consensus Mock Draft, which catalogues the top website's choices and the ultra-comprehensive DC Sports Report, which has a regularly updated list of 80+ mocks, set up by major sports websites as well as bloggers, fantasy sports sites and gambling sites.

Some mocks go all the way the second round, some through the first and a few just the lottery.
