In an analysis of why the Mavs and Suns are reeling, John Hollinger says the Jason Kidd trade has been devastating for Dallas. Beyond their dire situation in the playoffs, he adds, "Suddenly, the Mavs are an old team with a bad cap situation, limited depth, and no draft picks" thanks to the loss of Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop and two draft choices. It's so bad, he writes, "their days as top contenders are coming to a close". Sam Smith thinks there's a "Cuban Fizzle Crisis" on the horizon.
