NY ACORN, the community group that has worked with Bruce Ratner on planned low income housing at Atlantic Yards, reaffirmed support for the project this week. Director Bertha Lewis said her group is talking with Ratner and is "confident this will get done". ACORN and Ratner signed a community benefits agreement under which Ratner promises to build the housing and hire local contractors. Meanwhile, a critic concedes Ratner is likely to get the public financing he needs for affordable housing.
