Former Net Rex Walters was named head coach of the University of San Francisco Monday, ending speculation that Nets assistant Bill Cartwright would get the job at his alma mater. Cartwright had expressed interest in the job over the past several months, but USF went with Walters, a successful coach at Florida Atlantic University. Walters played for the Nets between 1993 and 1996.
