Kidd and Mavs Roll Over Nets

Jason Kidd didn't get his 100th triple-double, but he probably went home pretty satisfied Saturday night as his new team handed his old team a 20-point drubbing in Dallas. The game was close early, but the Mavs finished the first quarter on a 9-1 run and then turned it on in the second to take a 18-point lead into the break. The Nets shot just 12-for-43, with Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson combining to shoot 4-for-20, in the first half. They made a small run early in the third and cut the lead to 12, but they could not get stops after that and it was a rout once again. Kidd dished out 13 assists (one more than the Nets), but Dirk Nowitzki and Brandon Bass were the stars for the Mavs, while Jefferson led the Nets with 22 points. With Atlanta's two wins, the Nets finally fell out of the eighth playoff spot in the East.
