The Nets dropped to two full games behind the Hawks and three in the loss column Saturday night with a loss to the Suns at the IZOD Center. The Nets started out strong and led by 10 after the first quarter, but they struggled in the second and Phoenix took a one-point lead on the final possession of the half. They the Suns began the third quarter with a 9-0 run to take control, and they led the entire second half. The Nets cut the lead down to three with a 12-3 run midway through the fourth, but they missed five of their seven free throw attempts on the next three possessions, and they never could get back within one bucket. Vince Carter led the Nets with 32 points, Richard Jefferson added 20, and Josh Boone grabbed 13 boards, but the Nets shot just 44 percent from the field. On the other end, Phoenix got to the line 41 times and the Nets could not stop Amare Stoudemire, who scored 33 points on 12-of-15 shooting and grabbed 15 boards.
