The Knicks never called the Nets to seek permission to talk with Kiki Vandeweghe about Isiah Thomas' soon-to-be-vacant job as GM. Maybe the Knicks knew something. Fred Kerber reports, deep in his Sixer story, that "the Nets are pushing to lock up Kiki Vandeweghe contractually". No terms were reported. Vandeweghe is special assistant to team president Rod Thorn but his current deal extends only through the draft. He is likely to get Ed Stefanski's old title as GM.
