Of the three international Nets--Nenad Krstic of Serbia, Boki Nachbar of Slovenia and DeSagana Diop of Senegal, Krstic holds a singular distinction. Only his country has been bombed by US warplanes. US and NATO jets dropped 20,000 bombs on Serbia in 1999 to get the Serbs to stop human rights violations against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. Last week, the US recognized Kosovo as a sovereign state, leading to anti-US violence in the Serb capital. All of it saddens the Nets center.
