New Era Begins With OT Win Over Bulls

While Jason Kidd and his new team were getting beat handily in New Orleans, the Nets showed a lot of life in an overtime victory over the Bulls at the IZOD Center Wednesday night. The game was tight throughout and with the score tied at 94, Vince Carter missed a pull-up jumper with 20 seconds to go, but the Nets kept Chicago from getting a shot off on the final possession of regulation. Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams and a lot of energy on the defensive end were keys as the Nets never trailed in overtime. Vince Carter led all scorers with 33 points on 11-of-21 from the field, adding nine boards and seven assists. Williams played his best game of the season, scoring 25 points, and Jefferson added 24 on 8-of-15 shooting. New Net Trenton Hassell anchored the Nets defense in 22 minutes of action, and Josh Boone grabbed 15 boards, six of them on the offensive end. The Nets held the Bulls to just 38 percent shooting for the night.
