The Nets returned to the losing column Saturday night in Atlanta, falling behind early and never able to get back in the game. They went scoreless for almost six minutes at the end of the first quarter as the Hawks took control. Atlanta led by as many as 19 points in the second quarter and the Nets could never really cut into the lead until midway through the fourth. They cut it down to nine, but the Hawks put them away after that. The Nets shot 51 percent from the field, but committed 16 turnovers and allowed Atlanta to grab 15 offensive boards. Richard Jefferson led the Nets with 23 points and Boki Nachbar was solid off the bench, but Vince Carter was in foul trouble most of the night and shot just 5-of-12 from the field. Nenad Krstic played just three minutes and did not take a shot. In what was likely his final game as a Net, Jason Collins got the start and scored the team's first two points with a thunderous dunk off a Jason Kidd assist.
