Critics of the Nets plans for a new arena had hoped that Barclays, the big British bank, would reneg on its agreement to pay hundreds of millions for arena naming rights. Thursday, the bank announced it remains fully commited to the naming rights deal. "Barclays is unwavering in its commitment to the Barclays Center," said the bank in a statement, adding that it is now "co-lead" in the financing of the arena, a new role.
