The Nets played the Suns even for most of the game Sunday night in Phoenix, but it was the first 12 minutes and the last nine that made the difference. Phoenix came out hot, scoring 35 points in the first quarter and leading by 15 after one. The Nets actually won the next 25-plus minutes, but they never cut the lead to less than nine. The Suns then put them away with a 9-2 run to put their lead at 21 early in the fourth. Richard Jefferson was a gametime decision with a sore hip, but led the Nets with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Meanwhile, Vince Carter scored just 10 on 4-for-13. The Suns had six players in double-figures, including Amare Stoudemire, who schooled Sean Williams to the tune of a game-high 28 points.
