It was still a blowout, but as blowouts go, Team USA's win over Mexico was closer than expected. The 27-point gap was the closest anyone has come to the US, but Mexico's ability to hit three's and run the pick-and-roll--two weaknesses in last year's Worlds team--was disconcerting to some. Jason Kidd didn't start for the first time and didn't take a shot, but finished with seven assists and three steals. Carmelo Anthony had 28 to lead all scoreres. Team USA faces Puerto Rico Tuesday at 11 p.m. on ESPN2.
