Less than a week after Richard Jefferson gave $3.5 million to his alma mater, Vince Carter and his mother have pledged $1.6 million to a new 100-bed substance abuse treatment facility planned to open next year in Bunnell, Fla. The facility will be known as the Vince Carter Sanctuary and a nearby multipurpose building will be named after Carter's mother. Carter had previously given $2.5 million to his high school alma mater.
