After Tony Parker's extraordinary performance in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, basketball writers are taking a look at what might have been. In 2003, after Parker and the Spurs had beaten the Nets in six games, San Antonio made a grand pitch for Jason Kidd, hoping to combine the then 30-year-old Kidd with the 21-year-old Parker. Gregg Popovich thought it would work. Parker, however, didn't and Kidd made it all academic by signing with the Nets.
