For the second year in a row, the Nets took a risk on a troubled but talented New England player named Williams. Sean Williams, at 6'-10", is seen as the best shot blocker in the draft. He was viewed as having lottery-level talent but he was arrested for marijuana possession in 2005 and then thrown off the team the next year when he failed a drug test. Rod Thorn said the team took Williams because "we needed to get more athletic".
