A local merchant decided recently to take advantage of his proximity to the Nets planned arena in downtown Brooklyn, renaming his bagel shop "Arena Bagels". Seemed like a good idea at the time. But critics of Bruce Ratner's plans decided to register their complaints with the shop owner. The same people who last year organized a (failed) boycott of a local beer because the brewer supported the arena were able to force a change of name. Now the question arises: Was it overkill?
