A New York state judge Friday refused to stop Bruce Ratner from beginning demolition work on the site of the Nets' Brooklyn arena. Critics had asked for a temporary restraining order to halt the work while the judge heard the merits of their case which claims the state approved the project without proper environmental review. Ratner's lawyers argued that the buildings to be torn down are owned by the Nets' owner and continuing delays would needlessly cost him money. Critics have yet to score a victory over Ratner.
